full body armor.

I have been in a car with my family for 9 hours now. And we still have 20 minutes to go before we arrive home.

Everyone is exhausted.

The baby has been crying on and off for the last 20 minutes.

My legs are uncomfortable.

My back hurts.

I've been trying to write this blog post for an hour, but every time I get myself ready to start typing; 'mommmmm!' 'mommy, I'm hungry' 'babe, elliotte is crying' (like I can't hear her). 'what are you doing? maybe you should forget trying to do whatever it is you're trying to do...'.

I could literally pull my hair out right now.

I am going to be honest here and say that I have, since going back to work after having a third child, had many moments where I have considered the idea of stopping work all together. I often feel like I am battling the world just trying to get a shoot scheduled, or a set culled or edited or my website updated.

And then there's marketing.

social media.

branding.

emailing clients.

book keeping.

taxes.

staying inspired.

I am saying all of this because I could have closed my laptop a while ago and given up on writing this. I could have given up on all of this a long time ago. It is NOT easy. Mothering, being a supportive partner, and trying to run your own creative business is superrrrrr fucking hard. But I'm still here. I'm still typing and shooting through the chaos and trying to find the balance. I don't know if it actually exists in the world of a working parent but I haven’t given up yet.

And all of this because, I simply love taking pictures of people. I always will.

And we just pulled up to our front door.. goodnight y’all.

Equinox // Special Spring Offer !

“Is the spring coming?" he said. "What is it like?"

"It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine.”

- Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

The seaway is still full of ice, but the days are getting longer and the sunshine a little warmer, and the bears (and me) are coming out of hibernation and I say that's reason to celebrate!

From now until the end of April I am offering a special price on my Storytelling Sessions. If reserved before April 30th, you will receive your session, digital files, and a custom made hardcover photo book at 25% off the regular package price. These sessions can be booked for anytime in 2018.

Alexandra et Xavier // Love au Moulin

These two. I have so much to say about them and yet the truth is the time is evading me. I haven't showered, my house is a mess, I have to go get the girls from school soon, and life and life. Becoming a new mother of three has definitely brought a new level of joy (and stress) to my life, and I'm slowly learning to prioritize the VERY little time I have these days.. and although I know they just really want to see some of the images from their gorgeous, perfect September Quebec Wedding at the Moulin du Portage in Lotbinière, Québec, I do still need to share a few words..

Over the last four years, Alexandra and Xavier have become two very dear friends to me and Mathieu. They have known Maxime and Joey for most of their lives(that's so crazy to think!), we have spent holidays together, we have stayed up 'til the wee hours of the morning over wine and tears (more than a few times). Xavier's parents have become like second parents to us as well. They are, simply put, family.

In my 36 years of life I have learned the value of true friends and for me, these relationships mean everything. To me, home isn't a house but the people who fill that house; who walk through your door with a smile, who drop you a box of croissants on a rainy Sunday morning when you're 9 months pregnant.

Rachael & Jordan // September Vermont Wedding

I feel that not much needs be said after seeing these images.. they speak volumes of this incredible day, from start to finish, it was just utter joy, beauty, and love! Rachael and Jordan are this most adorable couple who I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of years ago through their friends Jamie and Steve, as I also photographer their wedding in the same sweet little town of Calais, Vermont. My dear, talented friend Jason came and second shot for me then as well and we both totally fell in love the the quaint little New England village set out in the middle of the woods about 15 minutes outside of Montpelier. Everything about this town, from it's rolling dirt roads, lakes, and mountain views to the Maple Corner Store and teeny tiny bar with live local music just makes you want to drop everything, buy a log cabin and some flannel, and simply start over. And then you meet these people and your hooked. They are all just the sweetest, most humble, down to earth people you'll ever meet. They made us feel so warm and welcome.

We arrived the day before the wedding, and I was able to catch the rehearsal at the Old West Church, which is seriously one of the most simple and yet beautiful churches I have ever been into. The weather was looking iffy for the weekend, and the night of the rehearsal was very chilly, but the morning of we woke up to blue skies and warm sun and the day couldn't have been more perfect.

Every detail of this wedding was so carefully considered and tended to, there ws never a moment when we weren't finding something beautiful to photograph. The girls got ready in this amazingly gorgeous old farm house, which is also where we did the first look. We then caravanned over to the Old West Church for the ceremony. Oh, did I mention the florals??? Nectar and Root from Brattleboro, Vermont. To die for. The garland hanging in the church had me totally swooning!

After the ceremony, we headed back to Rachael's parents' home, her childhood home, where the reception took place. We were able to sneak away for a few minutes as the golden light began setting over the pine and maple tree line along the property, and oh. that. light.

Anyway, I could go on and on, but I won't because I have a billion pictures here to speak for me. And my kiddos will be home from school any moment now.. but I will end by saying THANK YOU Rachael and Jordan. Every time I photograph a wedding, I am just blown away with gratitude that my couples chose ME to capture this beautiful time in their lives for them. I am so so sooooo beyond grateful that you two chose me. I will always remember your beautiful day, and I hope with these images you will be able to look back for years and years to come, and your children, and grandchildren will too, and that they will always know how full of beauty and love you and your friends and family are. So much love to you two..

xoxo
